How to Build a Versatile and Sustainable Wardrobe

How to Build a Versatile and Sustainable Wardrobe

Ever feel like your closet is so full it's exploding and you STILL don't have anything to wear? You're not alone, we've all been there and have come to terms that a bigger wardrobe doesn't necessarily mean a better wardrobe. We've got a few tricks up our sleeves to help you choose versatile and sustainable pieces you'll love to wear over, and over, and over again!

1. The Perfect Layering Piece
No matter the season, layering is a great way to add a splash of colour to any outfit. Choosing the perfect layering piece is easy when it's a one-size-fits-all item like a TAMGA Kimono. Over-sized, loose and extra bohemian looking, a kimono will effortlessly elevate your look. Want to make it even more versatile? Check out the Bella Poncho, a 3-in-1 piece that can be worn as a scarf, a poncho or over-the-shoulder. Whether traveling, running errands or going out with the girls, choosing the perfect layering piece has never been easier - the only hard part is deciding on which print you love most!

2. Back to Basics
Everyday basics are essential for, well, everyday! Choose basics that are high-quality and made from organic and sustainable materials. Eco-friendly fibres such as our Lenzing Modal (found in our Journey Tee) have incredible benefits; breathable, odour repelling and anti-bacterial properties just to name a few. Investing in quality basics may seem like it would come with a high price-tag, but we love brands such as Alternative Apparel, People Tree and Kotn (bonus points for being a Canadian brand too!) for their commitment to sustainability and affordable price-point on basics.
3. Dress it Up or Down
The most versatile pieces are ones that you can style in endless ways and not feel like you are wearing the same thing over and over. For example - when choosing all over print garments, envision which pieces you already own and can pair it with. If it's a printed maxi skirt (like our favourite Citra Skirt), you can pair it with any chunky solid knit or sweater in the winter, or a solid tank/fitted tee in the summer. Can you picture yourself wearing it with different footwear, to different occasions, to work, and on the weekend? If you can plan your outfits before purchasing - you know you're investing in a piece that's purposeful and versatile!
